The Shins Little Caesars Arena Concert reviews
so much talent, but could be a better show
The Shins were excellent, showcasing their tremendous music that everyone enjoyed. They came on stage at 9:45 for a show that began at 7pm, making for a long wait. Blackberry Smoke, the second opener, delivered a very good performance that the audience really enjoyed, albeit only playing for about 30 minutes. On the other hand, the first opener, Shovels & Rope, was terrible. Initially, it seemed like a spoof act or a joke, but it was not funny when they played for 43 minutes. What a disappointment. The show could have been much better if they had replaced the awful first opener and instead utilized the extra 45 minutes to feature solo music from Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, highlighting different musicians in their huge band, particularly Derek Trucks and his legendary guitar skills. This would have added variety to their music, as it all started to sound the same after a while, creating a monotonous wall of sound. There was so much talent on stage that could have been showcased better to greatly improve the overall show.
